How to enable Block Booking?

How does Block Booking give you more control over jobs

All shift postings should be completed by the Service, prior to the shift commencement to ensure compliance and worker restrictions are managed appropriately.  We recognise that continuity is important to Services and this can sometimes mean shifts are booked directly with the worker.

As such, Block booking has been developed to assist the effective maintenance of the platform, not only keeping the platform up to date easily but also ensuring that invoicing and payments can also be managed in a timely manner.

Block Booking enables you to select preferred agencies and workers during job postings. When you post a job as a Block Booking, ONLY the agencies you have selected will be notified. Upon receiving a list of suggested workers, this feature allows a list of preferred workers to be prioritised and displayed at the top of the eligible workers list.

How to Enable Block Booking?

  • Login to your Care Hires account.
  • Start creating your job and enter the job details.
  • Fill in the details of the job and complete all relevant sections.
  • In the Job Preference section, select Block Booking to enable this feature.

  • Once you select the preferred agency, workers who match your criteria will appear depending on their qualifications or agency.

* Please note that the Block Booking shifts feature is ONLY accessible to selected and preferred agencies. If you wish to make it visible to every agency, you can convert the shift type to open (look at Convert Shift Type to Open/Open Overdue below)

  • Once you have enabled the Block Booking feature, you will now be able to view a bb tag on your list of jobs. A detailed job view is unnecessary to see which shifts are tagged.

Convert Shift Type to Open/Open Overdue

  • Block booking shifts can be converted into regular shifts using the Convert to Open button, dynamically adjusting the shift status based on the specified date.

  • In instances where the preferred workers in the selected agency are not available, the Agency has the liberty to cancel/decline the block booking.
  • You will be notified when this cancellation happens with an email sent to the Job Notification (JN) email address of your care home. You will also be able to see it on the system as shown here.

  • This cancellation allows the same care agency to suggest other workers.
  • You can also use the  Convert to Open option to get more worker suggestions in these instances.

These features collectively offer enhanced control, flexibility, and efficiency in scheduling and job allocation processes within the Care Hires platform.
