Managing your Shifts via the Worker Mobile App
The Worker Mobile App is where you find work and see it through from start to finish. You can browse and apply for shifts, set when you're available, keep track of what's coming up, and clock in and out — all from your phone.
Finding and Applying for Shifts
Tap Open Jobs to see the shifts available to you. Because the list is matched to your skills and qualifications, you'll only see work you're eligible to do.
- Browse the list — each job shows the site, the date and times, and any details you need.
- Tap a job to open its full details and check what's involved.
- When you're happy, tap to apply.
Note: Applying lets your agency know you're available. You'll be confirmed once the shift is allocated to you, and it will then appear under your assigned shifts.
The Shift Sections at a Glance
- Open Jobs — shifts your agency has made available that match your skills and qualifications. Browse them and apply for the ones you want.
- Shifts — the shifts you've applied for or been assigned. This is where you track and work them, including clocking in and out.
- Timesheets — where you record and submit your worked hours.
- History — your completed shifts, kept for your reference.
Finding and Applying for Shifts (Open Jobs)
Open Jobs shows the shifts your agency has available for you. Because the list is matched to your skills and qualifications, you'll only see work you're eligible to do.
Understanding shift blocks — A single job can be made up of several blocks — for example, a working block followed by a sleep-in, then another working block the next morning. Each block shows its own start and end times and an icon for its type (such as a working block or a sleep-in block), so you can see exactly what the shift involves before you commit.
Checking the skills — Further down, the Skills section lists what the job requires — for example, Care Certificate, NVQ L2, NVQ L3, Mandatory Training, or Dysphagia Training.
- From the Home screen, tap Open Jobs.
- Browse the list. Each job shows the provider, the site, the start and end times and dates, and how many shift blocks it includes.
- Tap a job to open its full details.
- When you're happy with the details, tap Apply to Shift.
Note: Applying doesn't guarantee the shift — it lets your agency know you're available. You'll be confirmed once the shift is allocated to you, and it will then appear under your accepted shifts.
Tracking and Working your Shifts (Shifts)
The Shifts section is where your applied-for and assigned shifts live. It has two tabs:
- Pending — shifts you've applied for that are awaiting confirmation.
- Accepted — shifts that have been allocated to you and are yours to work.
Tap any shift to open its details, including its blocks and required skills. When it's time to work an accepted shift, you'll move through three simple steps using the button at the bottom of the shift:
- On Route — tap this when you set off, so the provider knows you're on your way. The shift will then show an On Route label.
- Start Job — tap this to clock in when you begin your shift.
- Finish Job — tap this to clock out when you've finished.
Note: Clocking in and out is done through Start Job and Finish Job, so your worked hours are captured accurately.
After you finish. Once the shift is complete, the next step is your timesheet. In some cases your agency submits this for you — when that happens, you'll see a message letting you know the timesheet has been submitted and the provider will review and approve it, so there's nothing further for you to do. Where you need to submit your own hours, you can do this from the Timesheets quick action on your Home screen.
Reviewing Past Shifts (History)
The History section keeps a record of every shift you've completed. Tap History from the Home screen whenever you'd like to look back over your previous work — handy for checking dates, times, and where you've worked.
Tips for Managing your Shifts
- Check the blocks before applying. A job may include sleep-in or overnight blocks — open the details so you know exactly what you're taking on.
- Tap On Route when you set off. It keeps the provider informed and starts your shift on the right footing.
- Don't forget to finish the job. Clocking out at the end makes sure your hours are recorded correctly.
